The Cost of Crossing the Solent!

September 29, 2023

The ferry crossing from Ryde to Portsmouth if a foot passenger or Fishbourne to Portsmouth if travelling by car is a vital gateway to the mainland for Islanders. This is even more critical if you are travelling to receive treatment for health reasons such as cancer. As Chair of Policy and Scrutiny Committee for Health and Social Care, I have made patient travel a high priority. At the last meeting on the 4th September 2023, I invited a patient/carer to tell the committee her real experience travelling with her husband who is seriously ill, The key issues were cost and no adequate facilities for those travelling with health conditions. Tonight at the depository, I will be speaking at the WightLink User Group’s open meeting, please come along.
