Ryde is a buzz with Jubilee celebrations!

June 05, 2022

From Thursday night, 2nd June, Ryde has become alive with events right across the Town for 4 days. There have been such a range of events such as the Freedom of Ryde and Citizens’ Awards (Ryde’s Oscars). the lighting of the beacon at Ryde Marina (which has new flags and just looks glorious), street parties, Ticket to Ryde on Eastern gardens, Lambretta Festival, activities in Ryde High street and Town Square, Arts and Craft in St. Thomas’s gardens, vintage buses and Ryde Bus Museum, Ryde Rowing regatta, and so much more.

The big moment for me was giving the 7 Freedom of Ryde awards to some great Ryde residents. Raymond Allan was one recipient and Ray was the creator/writer of Some Mother Do Have’Em and the iconic Frank Spencer, named after Spencer Road in Ryde. Frank and Ray is very much Ryde!
