Southern Water have communicated the following:
“The works to line and refurbish additional sections of the sewer along North Walk have been successfully completed.
Following this future proofing work to prevent further risk of collapse, normal flows been restored to Ryde’s main sewer and the temporary over-pumping system is now being dismantled.
Our next phase of works is to backfill the temporary shaft opposite Ryde Inshore Rescue, which was constructed to give us access to repair the collapse.
Finally, when we return in the New Year we will begin reinstatement works. In partnership with Island Roads and Ryde Town Council, we will work to ensure that the works are completed in early 2022.
We would like to thank you for your patience and understanding during these works and take this opportunity to wish you a happy and safe festive season”
I am still in talks with Southern Water in making sure that they meet their target of completing the works early 2022 and make sure the area is not only put back as it was but it is enhanced. I am still pursuing the establishment of a community fund so local groups and organisations really damaged and affected by the last year’s disaster are compensated and able to come back in 2022 with a bang.
