Message from Southern Water – 23rd January 2023
“I wanted to let you know that we are working on a repair to the wastewater mains pipe that runs between Appley and Sandown this week. In order to conduct the repair, we need to switch off the main and contain the flow until the repair is complete. Although the actual repair will be taking place closer to Sandown, the flow starts in Appley, and this means we will need to temporarily use storage tanks and tankers in Appley to hold and remove wastewater while the main is switched off.
Unfortunately, this necessitates the temporary closures of Appley Car Park, the road leading to Appley Car Park, North Walk Road and Canoe Lake Road. Some 16-20 storage tanks will be accommodated in the car park area, supported by 11 tankers. The road closures are needed for safety reasons and to accommodate tanker and equipment movement. These closures will take place from today, with work anticipated to be complete by this Sunday, 29th January.
We apologise for the inconvenience caused while this essential repair takes place and thank local residents for their patience. Please don’t hesitate to contact me if you have any questions.”
